How PoolKit estimates pH Up

PoolKit estimates the dry product amount needed to reach the target pH by modeling carbonate alkalinity, cyanurate alkalinity, water temperature, and the selected product's added alkalinity and carbonate carbon.

The estimate assumes full mixing, no immediate CO2 exchange with air, no borates or phosphates, and product purity matching the selected active ingredient. It is a planning estimate, not a replacement for staged dosing and retesting.

Relationship to alkalinity

Sodium carbonate raises pH and total alkalinity at the same time. If the field goal is only to move the TA reading, use the Alkalinity Adjustment calculator instead.

Field use

Large pH increases should be split into portions. Circulate, retest pH and total alkalinity, then decide whether the remaining calculated dose still fits the water.

If pH rise is driven by aeration or CO2 loss, dry product may not be the right correction.
